What is the best way to achieve bulk editing of a grid view in ASP.net? Bulk Editing of A GridView in ASP.Net. Edit and update all rows in gridview. I understand this question has many directions. So I guess I'm searching for someone who has had this scenario, or one similiar, with.net 2.0. For the record, if a control other than gridview is suggested. That would be fine. =) I need to generate a gridview with a variable number of rows. School of rock cast. This number would be determined by 2 dates. The last date this process took place and the current date. So if the last date was Oct 15 and today was Nov 15, the grid would have 32 rows. The part that I stumble on is the requirement for all rows to be editable at once. Having a single SAVE call that would do a batch update. The next step is to adjust the validators for some of these these data fields according to some business logic. Since this process is dynamic, I struggle with how to keep state and return the user to the page with all values intact. Thank you for your time. If validation is performed server side then some kind of error label under each control would be good. Calculate a number of days between two dates and create a dummy DataTable with that number of rows 4. Bind that table to grid; this will give you a needed number of rows in you grid 5. When user clicks Save button cycle through rows, collect data, validate (put message text in error label if data invalid) and return that data for persisting/saving/further processing. Don't hesitate to ask further questions if any R. Hi Ramuncikas I like where your going with this, and I believe it may give the flexability i'm looking for. So lets say I go this route, can you provide an example bit of code that cycles through the data returned within textboxes and checkbox to be validated? Then even more important, and the part that truly stops me in my tracks is since everything is dynamic, how do I return the user to the update process with the values intact for them to make corrections? Doesnt the state need to be managed? Thanks again Ramuncikas. How do I return the user to the update process with the values intact for them to make corrections? Doesnt the state need to be managed? Not sure in what terms of time you're talking about. If you mean 'after postback', then page's viewstate will take care of this, just don't disable it. If you mean 'tomorrow' then of course you will have to persist your data for later use. Attaching a zip file with page and codebehind.
